Chapter XIV: Book Thief

"Piper! Priam and I will be going to the mall! Do you want to come?" Mom shouted while walking outside the house I looked at myself. I’m wearing ripped jeans, long sleeved shirt and a cardigan. I got my sling bag and put on my black coat. "Where are you going?" I asked to make her repeat what she just said "To the mall, honey. Do you want to come or not?" "Wait for me Mom. I’ll come with you two." I stated and ran outside to catch Mom who is currently inside the car with Priam Mom drove us to the mall she was saying and we entered with no problem. "What are we going to do here Mom?" I asked because I don’t know what was the agenda of Mom to go here "I’m going to buy ingredients for my recipe, honey. Do you want to explore around?" she asked and I thought about that idea "Mom, I’ll just go to that bookstore." I said and pointed the bookstore nearby "Okay. Just meet us here, okay? Here’s money. You still don’t have money right?" Mom said and gave me some I walked to the bookstore and looked for the novel I’ve been dying to buy. The internet said that the book was only available here in Korea. It’s one of the reasons why I badly wanted to have a vacation here in Korea. I went inside the bookstore and scanned the inside of it. I saw the sign where the novels were located and made my way there. I worked hard on finding the book and my hard work paid off. I finally get to buy his exclusive book that was only available here. Unfortunately, the heavens were not by my side because someone got a hold of it too. I looked at the hand and traced it to its owner. I was staring at him when he grabbed the book from my hand. "Sorry not sorry, Miss. The book is mine." "I found it first, Mister." I defended but he annoyingly waved the book he successfully got "Hey----" my words were cut off when he walked away and left me there without hearing me out When I saw his jacket, I remembered who he was. The annoying stranger! It was him! What was his name again? It sounded like Alden or something. I was busy thinking of what his name was when someone tapped my shoulders. I turned around and saw Priam with a lollipop on his mouth. "Mom wanted me to fetch you. We’re going home." Priam said and walked out the bookstore I turned my head to the counter’s direction to look for the boy but he was gone. That sneaky guy stole my book. "Excuse me?" I called the attention of one of the staffs of the bookstore to ask if they still have a stock of that book "Sorry, that was the last book in our shop. The delivery of the new stock of those books is scheduled next month." "Oh, thank you." I said even though I wasn’t that thankful of what he just said "Sis! What are you still doing here? We need to go." I heard Priam shouted and I ran towards him My book. My poor book. I hate that guy.
