Chapter XIX: Presidential Duties

"Piper?" Rye got a call from Mrs. Vien and went out for a bit "What did she say?" "She said that you should get ready for your speech later on the board meeting." "Oh that. I thought it was something else. I’m ready for my speech. Can you listen to it for me, Rye?" "Sure, Piper. You can start now." he said and sat on the sofa to listen to my speech I then started saying my speech for the board meeting and Rye clapped his hands afterwards. "The stockholders will probably be impressed with that speech, Piper. Good luck." "Thanks." I said and smiled at him before leaving the office I walked to the Dean’s office where the conference room was located and knocked on the door and somebody shouted come in so I came in. When I opened door and came inside I saw the long table inside where the stockholders usually sit. "Piper! I’ve been waiting for you. Please come here in front. I’ll listen to your speech before the stockholders arrive." Mrs. Vien said and I was startled about it "Sure, Mrs. Vien." I said and recited my speech in front Mrs. Vien reminded me to be natural and so and so. She was telling me what to do and what’s not to do nonstop. "Sit beside me and don’t do anything that’ll upset the stockholders, okay?" "Understood, Mrs. Vien." Twenty minutes had passed and one by one, the stockholders arrived. When they were completed, the meeting started. "Here’s the high school student council president to deliver a speech for you everyone." I smiled at them and went to the front. "Good morning everyone. It’s a pleasure to be here with you on this exclusive meeting between the shareholders." My speech started with those two sentences until it got long and long until it was over The stockholders clapped their hands after I finished speaking and Uncle Martin looked at me proudly. The stockholders meeting finished by nine in the morning and I had to run for class. The classes were now ongoing and I skipped the first subject to attend that meeting. "Good morning, Ma’am. I’m sorry I’m late." "Please state the reason of your lateness. my teacher asked and I showed her the excuse letter Mrs. Vien gave me "I attended the stockholders meeting, Ma’am." my teacher then got the excuse letter and told me to sit down My day started like that. It was almost as if I wasn’t a student anymore. I would always skip lessons because of my duties and responsibilities as the student council president. Sometimes the vice president acts as my proxy whenever my schedule overlaps a test. "Piper? Mr. Cruz asked for your presence on the front gate. Elementary school students came to have their tour and Mr. Cruz wanted you to join them." Rye then approached me during class the next day. It was eight o’clock in the morning and he excused me from my PE class for the favor Mr. Cruz was asking. "Sure, I’ll head there right away." I told Rye and we both went to the front gate to welcome the elementary students "Good morning kids. Welcome to Chua International Academy. Here have two important persons of the academy." Mr. Cruz started and pointed to us "Here is Rye Irwin who is the student council secretary together with Piper Villegas who is the student council president." We said hi to the kids who cheerfully responded. They were so cute and bubbly that the tour didn’t bore Rye and I. We had fun with the kids and ended the tour with glee. On the next week, we had an orientation about the upcoming leadership training. The orientation was held in the gymnasium and the vice president helped me on all the talking. "The registration for the leadership training will be opened today after lunch break. You can register in the student council office or just look for Mina who is the one in charge on this one." Johnson smiled afterwards and all her fan girls were about to die "Please make sure to register one day before the leadership training. The leadership training is scheduled on Friday. It’s a three day two nights training so make sure to pack whatever you need." I continued and told them the requirements needed "Permits are needed to be signed by your parents. Don’t forget everyone and thank you for coming today." Johnson ended the speech and the students started going out The executive committee was the one supervising the students on going out. They made sure that a stampede or anything like that won’t happen. "See you on Friday, Piper. Call Rye and me if you’re already here. We’ll be riding with Rye’s van." "Sure, I’ll call you." I said and ended my day to get ready for the training
