Chapter 3 Taking Her Home
The only thing that Khalid knew was Fern’s name and that’s all.
Her exact background was figured out at the time when the assistant brought them some clothes and the assistant gave him some simple information about Fern which was enough for him to understand who she was.
“Mr Marsh, thank you for the clothes and…” Fern said as she came out of the bathroom from changing while at the same time she felt uneasy and wanted to confess something.
Before he knew who she was, Khalid thought about asking the reason why, but now he instead said, “If you have anything you would like to say then please go talk to your sister.”
Fern turned out to be Cleo Wood’s younger sister, which he did not expect but was also not a surprise to him.
“You’re not blaming me?” Even if she didn’t say anything to Cleo, Khalid will still come to their door anyways. This is what Fern expected however it turns out that the biggest victim of this matter was Khalid?
Khalid gave her look that said you are just thinking too much. As the younger sister of Cleo, she planned to sleep with her older sister’s fiancé. Even if Khalid didn’t care so much about this, Cleo’s temperament didn’t allow her to let go of Fern so easily.
This silly girl didn’t even realize the seriousness of this matter, and is still thinking that he cared to blame her or not?
“Let’s leave here now, I’ll take you home.” Khalid wanted to watch how Fern would explain this to her family.
“Take me home? Isn’t that a bad idea?” Ever since she heard that Cleo and Khalid had been engaged for more than 2 months, she never saw him take Cleo home not even once.
However she agreed to this so she could take revenge against Cleo, doing one act to cause some harm wasn’t such a big deal.
Khalid didn’t think about her reasons for agreeing to this, he just saw her wave her hand and said rather proudly, “You should appreciate me more, some other day I’ll invite you out for some milk tea!”
These words however then made Khalid realize that this girl was still just a young child. Before he couldn’t tell because of her whole attire and heavy makeup, but now without makeup, her delicate face looked very fresh and also very pleasing to the eye. Although Fern risked everything to take revenge against Cleo, however as soon as she thought about the upcoming battle with her family, she still felt a little uneasy. She felt anxious to the extent that she sat in the back seat for the whole journey like a small lamb without saying a word.
Khalid could tell she was very nervous so didn’t say anything else to cause more stress for her.
Before they arrived at the Wood’s family villa it was already dark outside. Fern opened the car door which revealed her head and waiting outside was a servant who just went inside to inform who had arrived. The servant didn’t notice that behind Fern was Khalid.
Fern walked to the entrance however could not see Cleo anywhere but just heard the sharp cursing of the other person, “Fern, you shameless bitch, you still have the nerve to come back? How are you not dead…”
Cleo while she cursed Fern also walked towards the door, she wanted to teach her a lesson, however once she arrived at the door she then noticed the expressionless Khalid who stood there.
“Khalid!” Cleo’s ferocious expression changed suddenly into an artificial smile as if she wasn’t just cursing someone just now, “What are you doing here? Don’t stand outside, come on in!” After she finished speaking she roughly pulls Fern inside and then clung to Khalid’s arm.
“I just took your sister home.” Khalid said this calmly which successfully distracted Cleo, and he then took this opportunity to walk past her and go inside.
Behind Khalid, Cleo glared angrily at Fern, a look that seemingly was able to peel of her skin and bones. However Fern was not afraid and instead pulled a face at Cleo. She knew that since Khalid was here she had to be strong and endure her sister despite how angry she was.
Jaxon Woods and Amira Moss were also both furious however instead had to smile as they greeted Khalid.
“Mr Marsh, it really is an honour you came here, you are certainly gracing our house with your presence!” Although Khalid was about to become the son in law of the Wood’s family, however Jaxon’s respect for him doesn’t change because of this, it is because the existence of the Marsh family is something the Wood’s family cannot afford to lose.
“Sir you are too modest.” Khalid nodded his head at him and ignored Jaxon’s gesture to shake hands, and then went to sit down.
Jaxon’s hand froze in mid-air awkwardly, and inside he felt even more anxious and uneasy.
Amira took Jaxon’s hand as she was walking over and sat him down opposite Khalid.
This is the Wood’s home, however while Jaxon felt extremely uncomfortable, on the contrary Khalid did not appear to be like a guest at all.
Jaxon hesitated a few times until he finally cautiously said, “I’m sorry that our daughter caused you trouble…”
He hadn’t finished speaking when Khalid held up his hand to interrupt him, “Sir you are wrong, your daughter’s are both very special, one of them is extremely courageous, while the other…” As he spoke he looked at Cleo and sneered, “Possesses a kind of eloquence with the way she speaks.”
Regardless if he was talking about Fern or Cleo, all of what Khalid said was not a compliment. Especially when it came to Cleo and it seemed he had heard the horrible things that Cleo had said to Fern.
However Cleo was not a fool, she naturally understood what he meant and pursed her lips while crying and said, “Khalid, how are you able to speak about me like that!”
Khalid felt a little uncomfortable seeing her like this so he instead looked away and turned towards Fern.
The two sisters have almost no resemblance to each other; Cleo was always wearing a full face of makeup and dressed up in both brightly coloured and gorgeous clothes. He suspected that in the hotel Fern’s heavy makeup and rich attire was copied from Cleo, but he felt this was a waste of her naturally good looks.
Jaxon noticed Khalid’s cold attitude, and said in a panic, “Mr Marsh, I’m sorry my daughter is so ignorant and is offending you. You can handle her however you wish but please do not destroy the harmony between our two families!”
“Sir you say this, but do you want to know what happened tonight?” Khalid asked with interest.
Jaxon was stumped after hearing this. Although he had seen the news report, however the exact details of what happened he didn’t have enough time to find out.
Khalid didn’t wait for him to speak and instead carried on speaking, “Sir if you are not completely clear, then take the time now to look at tonight’s report, I believe you will find the answer from this report.” After he finished speaking he looked at his watch and said, “It’s getting late, so I must be on my way now.”
“Khalid you want to leave now? But we haven’t been able to say anything to each other yet!” She playfully said this as she saw Khalid stand up.
“What are you doing? Hurry up and take Khalid to the door.” Amira said sternly to Cleo.
“No need, I think you have some family matters that need to be resolved right now.” Khalid was like an innocent passer-by; he waved his hand then left while leaving the Wood’s family full of unease and doubts.
“Fern! What is going on, how dare you do such a shameless thing?” After Khalid had left, Jaxon immediately exploded in fury.
His sudden roar made Fern tremble in fear.
However she then calmly said, “Then dad you must also ask your other shameless daughter. She stole my boyfriend and I slept with her fiancé, I was just returning the favour.”
“Don’t speak such nonsense!” Amira pointed at Fern, “Fern I know that you have always been unsatisfied with me, however the one who has done wrong is you. So why are you still slandering your sister?”
Fern didn’t object to this, instead she looked at Jaxon and let him form his own opinion.
“Is what she said true?” Jaxon asked Cleo.
Cleo evaded his gaze, “I don’t know what she is talking about, she just doesn’t like seeing me doing well. She just wants to destroy my happiness!”
Jaxon banged the coffee table, “I asked you whether what she said was true or not?”
As he looked at her expression, inside he knew that she had the answer, however because she is his precious eldest daughter therefore he is unwilling to believe the truth.
However Jaxon still wanted to get to the bottom of the matter, since Amira was also angry.
