Chapter 11 Being a Mistress

A happy and wonderful weekend just passed. Mondays there were not too many classes, and Fern decided to look for a part time job, but when she was downstairs of the dorm building, she ran into Jaden. Fern just walked forward looking neither left nor right, but Jaden still came towards her and stopped her, this time he was very sensible though, and didn’t use his hands, because now he knew that Fern was pretty scary when she was going nuts, and Jaden was really afraid she might beat him up. “Fern, can we please talk?” Jaden thought for a few days about it, and still had a feeling that it was not okay, and he really wanted to win her back. “There is absolutely nothing to talk about.” Fern really was tired of Jaden and his drama, it already happened, he should at least have the balls to stand to what he has done, but now he didn’t want to accept the truth. When Fern found out that he was cheating on her, she found a corner and cried for the whole night, then she called him the next day and ended the relationship. Was she not sad? Of course she was sad! Did she not miss it? Of course she did! But there was not much to do, the moment Jaden decided to cheat on her, their fate has ended. “Fern, I know it’s all my fault and I am so sorry, can you please just give me another chance? I swear that it will never happen again!” Jaden pointed to the sky and swore on god, and when he was talking, his voice almost broke down. “Jaden, if you know that you did it all wrong, then just stop pressuring about it, it’s not something an apology will wipe away, I am not going to forgive you. I don’t blame you, just please leave me alone.” Fern’s heart was in pain, it felt as if someone was holding it in his fists, so bad that she wanted to cry. Every moment she spent with Jaden was playing again in her head, all those happy memories are now broken into thousands of pieces. The two of them are done. “No, I am not going to break up with you, Fern, I won’t allow it. When we were together, I never arrogated, but you don’t allow me to touch you, so I only went to find a way to release my physical needs, what is wrong about that? I will swear to you that after we get married, I am never going to touch another woman, is that enough?” Jaden didn’t understand why Fern won’t let something so simple just go, and won’t forgive him. Fern already noticed that the two of them had different expectations of life, and she didn’t want to discuss more with Jaden. She only said to him, “The girl you found to release your sexual needs is my sister, my half sister.” Jaden’s whole body stiffened, he looked like he was struck by lightening. Fern wanted to get away from him, and after she was a few steps ahead, Jaden finally found himself again, and ran after her. “I am so sorry Fern, I didn’t know, I really didn’t know, I am so sorry!” Jaden regretted it now, he regretted it so much that he wanted to kick his own butt for it, and except for apologizing, he had no idea what else to do. If it was just any random woman, this would have been over already, and Fern might have forgotten about it, but now that Fern is telling Jaden that this woman was her sister, he somehow knew, she will never forget about it. “You don’t need to apologize to me, really, it has been more than two months, I have already accepted the fact that you betrayed me, and when I broke up with you, I decided never to get involved with you again.” But even though it has been so long ago, she felt so heartbroken whenever she remembered Cleo showing her those pictures that no one should ever see. But it was alright, any scar will stop hurting with time passing. “Fern, please don’t go, please don’t break up with me! If I knew it was your sister, I would have never ever started anything with her! Fern, we have been dating for two years, you can’t just throw it all away! I can’t take it!” Jaden was really crying this time, he even kneeled down in front of Fern. He regretted it, he was sad, and he was determined to win back Fern’s trust, so he could heal the wounds. “Jaden, get up, don’t make me despise you!” Fern saw what he was doing, and was too disappointed. She was regretting it now too, what was wrong with her to fall in love with such a guy? She learned that she should never judge a person by his looks again, looking handsome is not the point, she needed to be more careful in the future. She has had enough of such men in her life. “Fern, please don’t be so heartless! We can start again, from the beginning, and I swear I will only love you!” Jaden’s crying grimace was really not pretty. People were passing them, and everyone was curious about them, some of them even took out their phones to record, but stopped when they saw Fern’s look. “That’s never gonna happen, Jaden, get up, I don’t really wanna bother about you anymore.” Fern shook off Jaden, and walked away without even looking back. Jaden was still on the floor crying, and after a while it started to rain, but Jaden didn’t get up, he was still on his knees. Until his roommate came back from class and pulled him away to get some dinner. When they were back in the dorms, Jaden sat on the balcony and called Cleo. “You knew from the beginning that I was Fern’s boyfriend right? That’s the reason why you tried to get close to me!” Jaden wasn’t stupid, when Fern told him about their relationship, he remembered the was Cleo was treating him, and he immediately understood. “Exactly, I saw you once with Fern, and I thought you were pretty handsome, so I tried to get to know you, Jaden, you just noticed? Don’t you think it’s a little too late?” Cleo wasn’t at all nervous about him finding out about her plans. Amira already thought of that a long time ago, and told her how to handle it. “You are way out of the line, Cleo, what have I done for you to do this to me!” Jaden started yelling at her angrily. “Stop acting like a woman! You took advantage of me and now you pretend like I was the evil one?” Cleo laughed, “What, did Fern find out? Did she break up with you?” “I am never going to break up with her, and I am never going to talk to you again.” Jaden only called her to ask her one question. Now he knew about everything, so he was planning to break it off with her, for Fern. Cleo wasn’t in a hurry though, she laughed at him, “Do you really think she broke up with you because of me?” “What do you mean?” Jaden asked. Cleo didn’t answer, and Jaden already remembered the guy that beat him up before, the one who was invited by the school for a speech, he took a day off and couldn’t attend, so he has no idea who this Khalid really is. But he did know is, there is something behind the relationship between him and Fern. “I don’t mean anything, it’s alright if you don’t wanna talk to me again, so goodbye.” Cleo wanted to hang up the phone. Jaden called for her, “What do you know about this guy that Fern was with? When were they together, was it before or after we broke up?” Cleo hesitated for a while, but then she knew that Jaden must be talking about Khalid. “What guy? Does she have another guy already?” Cleo pretended like she didn’t know anything, “I don’t know about that, you know me and her are not close, she is just a bastard child, she has been a vain person since childhood, who knows why she broke up with you, maybe she just thinks you are not good enough for her!” Jaden immediately felt angry about what he just heard. “So what you are saying is that this guy is keeping Fern as his mistress?” That man was a mature elder person, and he was invited by the school for a speech, he must be some kind of successful person, so it would make sense for him to keep a few college girls as his own. “That’s not what I said, you said that yourself, I had enough of talking to you, bye.” Cleo hung up the phone. Jaden was holding his cell in the fist, with so much force that his knuckles were coming out.
