Chapter 12 Because you are a Jerk

After Khalid met Jaden, he asked his assistant to look up his information. The assistant took about two days to find out everything about what happened between Jaden and Fern, even the information about Cleo was included. Before looking into it, the assistant didn’t even know that Khalid was involved into this mess as well, but to keep his job, he left that part out of the files. “What has she been up to these days?” Khalid was saying to himself while he was going through the files. While he was looking at the information, Fern’s face was showing in his head. His assistant hesitated, but then he found himself again, and answered his boss, “Miss Woods has been in school taking her classes.” Cleo and Fern were completely different people, one was a goody girl, while the other one was living a messed life. And on top of that was Fern still a college student, she was in school most of the time and didn’t need to be overshadowed. But Khalid was still worried, since she had a first love boyfriend at school. That day when Jaden was crying in the rain, he caught a cold, but he only rested for two days, and on his third day, he was back to bothering Fern again. “What is wrong with you?” Fern felt uncomfortable the second she saw Jaden’s face. It was a pretty handsome face, but why was it a jerk that had this handsome face. Fern felt pity for that. “Fern, tell me the truth, why did you break up with me?” Jaden has set it in his head that Fern was Khalid’s mistress, since Cleo said that too. “Because you are a jerk.” Fern wasn’t going to back off at all, if she was going to play nice with him, Jaden might think she still had feelings for him. “Because I am a jerk, or because you are a bitch? You won’t hold back at all, but instead you blame it all on me, I was really blind to like you!” Jaden was mad because of what she said to him, he was actually planning to have a nice talk with her, but now he didn’t care anymore. Fern on the other hand didn’t want to talk to him anymore, so she turned around and left. Jaden didn’t let her leave, “Fern, tell me the truth, the guy who beat me up the other day, who is he and what is his relationship to you? You are already dating another guy but you blame me for cheating on you, you are so shameless!” “What the fuck?” Fern threw the books in her hands on Jaden, “Think what you want, but remember that I was so fucking wrong to ever fall in love with you, never ever come across my way again and bother my life!” Fern wasn’t satisfied with throwing her books at him, so she added another kick in his ass. When she was back in her dorm room, Fern threw her things on the floor and buried her head in the pillow, her tears started running. She wasn’t crying about Jaden cheating on her, also not about the break up, but because of what he accused her today. Thankfully Cleo slept with him, and ended their relationship with it. She doesn’t even want to think about what would have happened if they got married, her life would have been a huge mess! It was good this way, this marriage was just a business deal, she didn’t have to like Khalid, so she wouldn’t be afraid he might hurt her. Jaden had to think of another way now, since he noticed that no matter what he did, Fern didn’t jump on his intentions. Jaden spread the rumors in college about Fern being kept as a mistress. She was already known since she has skipped classes, so it only took a short time for everyone in school to know about her. It even got so far that their college president got wind of it, the influence was immense. This is exactly what Jaden wanted, he wanted everyone to turn their backs at Fern, so that she had no one else but him to count on. “Is that Fern Woods? I never knew, such a pretty lady would allow herself to be a mistress.” “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, no matter how diligent and thrifty a person usually looks like, it’s probably all for us to see.” “And she is a good student, our profs all told us to take her as a model, if we actually did that, we would all end up like her!” “Oh shush, she’s coming!” Fern entered the class room, she heard everything that they were discussing about, and every finger that pointed at her, she knew. It has been going on for a couple of days already, she has noticed it, first, she was very confused about it, and now she knew that it must have been Jaden who did that to her, that shameless jerk, just because she didn’t want to be with him anymore, he had to pay back like this. “Miss Woods, please come to my office.” Her class monitor called out her name with his brows knitted. In the office she noticed that not only her and all of her professors where there, but also the president of her school. Fern was startled by the big crowd, she thought that Jaden just said a few dumb rumors, and her monitor wanted to ask her a few questions about it, but she never thought so many people would know about this. “Miss Woods, you probably already know why I asked you here?” It was the college president who asked her, the other professors were on his side but didn’t say anything. All of them looked very serious, from that she knew this was not going to pass easily. “I don’t know.” Fern shook her head. “There have been rumors about you being a mistress these days, I would like to hear you explain things to me.” The president said. “That’s not true.” Fern answered quickly, and that was true, there was nothing for her to explain. The president was not satisfied with her answer, “Then why are all the students saying you are, and they can even say who that person is?” “I don’t know why the students would say that, but what’s not true is not true.” She could hear that they didn’t believe her. “Miss Woods, you did something really wrong, and I expect your attitude to be appropriately!” This time it was her class monitor, a man of 40 years of age, he looked amiable, but right now he was really angry. Because he really liked Fern, she was a student that has skipped classes, and she was usually a good student too, he thought she would do great things in her life, but instead he got wind of her being a mistress, and the whole school knew about it. What needs to be known here is that being a mistress is something that’s going to ruin any college girl. Anyone who got in contact with that label would never get rid of it again. “Please Professor, who is the one not having the right attitude right now? All you did hear was rumors coming from a bunch of students, and now you are expecting me to explain things? If you really believe it, can you at least show me some evidence?” Fern felt like a prisoner who has been pulled up to court to answer questions, why would she admit to something she didn’t do? What a weird world. If the president was at least just asking her for an explanation, instead of already labeling her, she might have taken the time to actually explain. But now it didn’t matter what her attitude was, they would never believe her. “Of course we have evidence, otherwise we wouldn’t ask you to be here.” The president said angrily. “Okay, then please, show me, as long as you have something, I am going to admit it.” Fern was curious what they had.
