Chapter 15 Acceptance

When Fern heard her father’s words, she didn’t even want to raise her head to explain herself. People who believed her wouldn’t ask too many questions, and the ones who didn’t believe her, wouldn’t listen to her anyways. “Could you explain to me what she has done?” Khalid’s eyes were cold as ice. Thankfully he came to the college, and he even regretted that he came too late, because Fern has been mocked all this time while he was not there. “She...she...” Jaxon didn’t know how to tell him, he knew that if he told him, the relationship between Marsh and Woods would be ruined, this would actually kill him! The president saw that Jaxon had trouble telling Khalid, so he said, “Miss Woods is a mistress to someone, and the whole school already knows about it. We asked Mister Woods to come to talk about how to solve this problem.” “A mistress?” Khalid laughed, “Do you really think she needs to be someone’s mistress if she has be as her finace?” The president paused, he was right, if he really was Fern’s fiance, why would she do that, is there anyone who could compete with Khalid? Jaxon also heard what he said, and felt that Khalid didn’t believe this story, which made him happy, he immediately led the conversation into the other direction. He added, “Exactly, you haven’t even gotten to the ground of it, and already accuse my daughter of something she didn’t do. You already said that she is a hard working student, and she even skipped one year, don’t you all feel bad to accuse such a girl of something so bad?” Fern also wanted to ask Jaxon if he didn’t feel bad about not believing her, he was so easily swayed. The president was also startled, didn’t Jaxon just have a totally different attitude? “Mister Marsh, this is the truth, we didn’t know that she is your fiance, that as our fault, but the fact that she is a mistress had been seen by a student.” The president said to Khalid, he didn’t want him to be deceived. “Someone called Jaden?” Khalid asked. The president was surprised, “You know him?” “Not really, I just saw him once, last time when I was invited here, I saw that a guy was bullying my fiance, so I taught him a lesson.” Khalid already asked his assistant to find out everything before coming to the school. Jaden told the professors that Fern was a mistress, and that the person who was keeping her as a mistress even came to school once, and beat him up. Now that Khalid was telling them, the president remembered what Jaden said, and his face lost all color. “So the person Jaden was talking about, is you?” The president wanted to find a whole in the ground and just disappear. They have been insisting all this time that they didn’t do Fern wrong, and even talked about expelling her. He never thought that she wasn’t really a mistress, but on top of that, all of the professors acted on just a few words that another student told them. “Mister headmaster, I feel absolutely disappointed by the quality of this school, I think I will need to think about my investments from before.” Khalid said. What could the president answer to that, he did wrong, so he had to accept that. “Now I want you to apologize to my fiance, and I hope you are going to punish that Jaden, and I want him to apologize to my fiance in front of all professors and students.” Khalid put down his demands on all of them very clearly. “Yes, yes of course, we did Miss Woods wrong, and an apology is more than needed.” The president suddenly looked like he aged another decade, even his body bent over a little. Khalid stayed with Fern until all of the professors have apologized to her, and then took her out of the office. Fern, who had her face in Khalid’s chest for a long time, had her tears already dried up, she followed Khalid out of the office. And Jaxon followed them as well. “Mister Marsh, thank god you came so quickly, otherwise they would have misjudged my little girl.” Jaxon said to him. “Right, and if it wasn’t for Mister Woods, they wouldn’t have insisted on blaming her.” Khalid said mockingly. Jaxon’s face blushed, “Mister Marsh, please let me explain, when I heard them talking about her being a mistress, I really didn’t know what else to do that to believe them.” “Oh, I am really sorry about that.” Fern said, her eyes still red, but her face was already looking better than back in the office. “Mister Woods, according to how you treated Fern in the office, I have reason to believe that you are beating her at home too, and I really worry her staying in your house. I am going to take her to my place.” Khalid decided, he didn’t really ask Jaxon for his opinion. “Mister Marsh, but...” Jaxon didn’t know if he should be disappointed or happy. He liked the fact that Khalid cared about Fern, but he was afraid that his attitude towards Fern ruined his relationship with Khalid. “Mister Marsh, I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” Jaxon didn’t even finish, and Khalid already took Fern with him. Was this a bad joke? To move in with Khalid, why don’t they just kill her. “What do you think about it?” Khalid didn’t even bother what Fern might say, and only asked Jaxon. Jaxon would never dare to say no. If he did, Khalid might just turn around directly without Fern, that would mean the end to him and his family. “I did Fern wrong, I ignored her needs, and didn’t take good care of her, she is lucky that she has a fiance like you, and I think if she moved in with you, she would have a good life.” Jaxon still hoped that he could change Khalid’s opinion of himself. Only if Khalid cared about Fern, he would have a chance. “Good that you know.” When Khalid heard him say that, he was feeling better already. Fern only watched the two of them talk, and neither of them even bothered to ask her for her own opinion. “Wait, Mister Marsh, I need to go to school everyday, and you have to work, I think if we live together it might not be such a good idea.” Fern didn’t want Jaxon to bother about her life, so she moved into the dorms. And now there was a Khalid, another man who was not too mature, and if they were going to live together, it would be really awkward. “We are going to move in sooner or later, and if I don’t see you, I am going to worry someone is going to bully you again.” Khalid explained to her. Jaxon lowered his head, his face was so red as if someone just slapped him. Fern wanted to tell him that she wouldn’t be bullied, but then it was Khalid who had to help her out just now. “Fern, just move in to his house.” Jaxon tried to convince her, and added, “Don’t forget what your mother told you before she died, you need to be grateful. Khalid treats you so well, you should pay him back for that.” It wasn’t about being grateful to Khalid, it was about the Woods family. Even though Khalid was a stranger, but he could hear that Jaxon had more meaning in his words, and his gaze went cold immediately, but he didn’t say anything, since Jaxon was helping him right now. There was no use, no matter how hard Fern tried to refuse, Khalid was already determined to go to the Woods house to get her things. When they arrived, Khalid noticed that Fern had most of her things in college. He thought Jaxon was a coward, and he would treat Fern better because of him. But now he knew that they have kicked Fern out of the Woods house, that’s why they didn’t even add her plate at the table for meals. “Mister Woods, I am really disappointed by you, but thank your elder daughter for me, if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have known that my fiance was being insulted in school.” Khalid arranged for people to get all of Fern’s things, and got into this car and left.
