Chapter 16 A Complete Disgrace

Jaxon was full of regret. If he was given another chance then when he received the call from the headmaster he would have listened to Fern’s explanation patiently, and then he would have stood by her side without hesitation and defended her against those teachers in the school. However now there was no time for anything anymore, he had offended Khalid and was not on good terms with Fern. From now on it was Fern’s business if Khalid treated her well. In addition as long as Fern was unwilling to help the Wood’s family then they were done for. “Dad, what happened? Were you not asked to go to Fern’s school by her teacher?” Cleo saw many people going up and down the stairs all taking Fern’s stuff away. Khalid and Fern who were outside didn’t come in and therefore Cleo didn’t see either of them. Jaxon who was full of despair also didn’t come out and see them. Cleo was making many guesses, “Dad, could it be that it was you who drove her out of the house? Is she now doing extremely shameless things at school?” She was thinking this was more and more the case, otherwise Jaxon wouldn’t have gotten so angry. In the past she and Amira had encouraged him many times, however were never successful at making Jaxon get her out of the house. Now she finally got what she wanted! Amira was watching people move her things, afraid that they would also take their home’s possession. After it was confirmed they were only moving Fern’s possessions, she slowly walked down the stairs. Once she saw that Jaxon had an unusual expression on his face she immediately went to ask what’s wrong. “Jaxon, what happened? All of Fern’s belongings are being taken away?” If Fern really provoked Jaxon so much to the extent that he got her to leave the house, then of course she would be very happy. However Jaxon’s expression evidently did not express how she felt. “It’s over, we’re finished. We have officially disgraced and offended Khalid!” Jaxon staggered to the sofa and then fell onto it. “What do you mean? Father, why are you saying this?” Cleo asked. Jaxon focused his eyes and saw Cleo standing in front of him and then he raised his hand and slapped her. Cleo couldn’t do anything to stop him and his slap made her fall to the ground. “Jaxon, what are you doing to Cleo?” Amira was so terrified that she quickly went to help Cleo stand up. Cleo who was in pain started to cry, “Why did you hit me?” Cleo quite grown up now, however this was the first time Jaxon had ever hit her so hard. “Why did I hit you? Then why don’t you think about what you have done? Why did you tell Khalid about our family matters?” Jaxon still wanted to hit Cleo but Amira stopped him. “She really was yelled at by the head of our family so why isn’t she allowed to talk about it?” Amira said. The more Jaxon thought about it the more furious he became. If Khalid didn’t come today then so many of these things wouldn’t have happened. For example Khalid wouldn’t be disappointed in him and Fern wouldn’t have been taken away. “You hit me just because of this?” Cleo’s eyes brimmed with tears and she cried so much she was almost out of breath. Jaxon felt distressed when he saw her like this and after he put down his hands he sighed and told them both what had happened today. “Jaden really is such a fool!” Amira knew who Jaden was; she wanted to use him to ruin the marriage between Fern and Khalid. However, she never expected that he would actually destroy their family first. “Even if this did happen, you still shouldn’t have hit me. How was I supposed to know that things would turn out this way? If I didn’t tell Khalid then Fern would have been expelled. She would have been so angry that she would have suicided and then when that happened how would you explain this to him?” Cleo said while crying. “Ok enough, what happened is in the past now so there is no use talking about it anymore. If you are fine then you need to go contact Fern now and repair the relationship with her. Don’t let her abandon our family so ungratefully like this.” Jaxon told her. Cleo immediately wanted to refuse however when she thought about how Fern now lives at the Marsh household she realized that she could often see Khalid if she sorted things out with her sister. After Khalid brought Fern home to his villa, he chose a room to have her belongings placed in. However she was shivering on the sofa and even didn’t dare to breath. After everyone had left, only Fern and Khalid were left inside the big villa. “Khalid, I really feel that living here is not convenient for me. Not only is it not close to my school but also we are…” It was inappropriate for a single man and single woman to be alone together! However Khalid didn’t care about this, “I will get the driver to take you to school every day. As long as there are roads then there is no problem for this. In addition we are both just unmarried man and wife so living together really isn’t a big deal.” “I think living at school is fine.” Fern said. “What’s wrong? Are you afraid about what I might do to you if you live here? Or do you feel you will lack freedom here?” Khalid continued to speak, “You don’t need to worry about any of this. Every day I am busy with my work so I come home late. Although we are living together, however our opportunities to meet will be very little.” Fern looked at him and he continued to speak, “Also, I’m not a monster who would harm or touch a young girl, so please relax and don’t worry!” “Mr Marsh!” Fern was unhappy when she heard this, “I am trying to discuss this matter with you in a serious way however you personally attacking me like this is unacceptable!” How was she a small girl? Apart from her age being slightly young, what else is so small about her? She obviously is a girl with nice curves, this should be good enough! “Fern, although there were no serious consequences from what happened today, however I did not just bring you here to avoid unnecessary problems. You are my fiancée, I do not want you to be wrongly framed for things that will ruin the Marsh family’s reputation, do you understand?” Since he couldn’t use logic to convince her he made her understand by using emotional reasons. Fern thought about it, if she really was expelled today then she would have been in the media reports again. If it was announced that Khalid’s fiancé was expelled then this really would have been very humiliating for him. “Then is it possible for me to just come back here on weekends. Nothing has really changed from before and if it was like this then I wouldn’t need to come back and forth every day and spend so much time on the road.” After all she was still a young girl that loved to study. “This is not ok. If nothing had changed then I wouldn’t have needed to bring you here. I really hope you do not let your emotions affect your decisions otherwise this will be very hard for me to handle.” Khalid felt awkward as he said this. What else was Fern able to say? Since she had no other argument for the time being she was only able to agree to him. Fortunately, after Khalid had given his instructions he then went to the office. It then got very late however he still hadn’t returned so she went to sleep. The next morning the driver took her to school without even running into Khalid. However what she didn’t know was that her luck in not seeing him was deliberately caused by Khalid in order to not make her feel awkward this morning. The school called the students to the playground to listen to Jaden’s public self-criticism. Jaden apologized to Fern in front of all the teachers and students of the school. He also read a 5,000-character review which talked about his big mistake. “So it turns out to be Jaden who did this. Although I still think he is handsome, however why I had a secret crush on him in my first year I really do not understand, I really was so blind back then!” “He liked a girl but since he couldn’t have her he then tries to slander her reputation. This guy is horrible!” “He really is despicable!” After Fern heard everyone’s discussions around her she felt they were a little hypocritical since just a few days ago they were discussing her like this too. She felt a little bored and after the morning meeting was finished she went back to the classroom. Now that she didn’t live at school anymore, when she didn’t have classes she couldn’t even return to her room. This made her feel very miserable. “Fern!” Fern was resting on the table trying to fall asleep when she suddenly heard a very nightmarish voice. She raised her head and standing in front of her was Jaden. “Fern I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to do this to you. I didn’t know who that man was, and since you didn’t tell me I made that terrible decision.” Up until now Jaden still didn’t know who Khalid was.
