Chapter 17 You are so Cruel

The headmaster and a few other teachers knew who Fern’s fiancé is, however Khalid wanted them to keep it a secret. Apart from the people who were in the office that day, no one else could be allowed to know. Fern didn’t say anything; she just stood up and slapped Jaden. Yesterday she was hit by Jaxon, and since she was not allowed to hit Jaxon back, therefore she could only hit such despicable people like Jaden. “Get lost; I don’t want to see you ever again.” Fern had heard enough of Jadon’s lies. “Fern don’t be so cruel to me. Think about how we used to feel about each other, so why are you now being so heartless towards me?” Jadon said this as he crouched down. Fern felt tired so she stood up and walked away however Jadon rushed to catch up with her. Because there were no classes going on in the senior teaching building, there were not many people around and therefore no one saw Fern being chased. “Stop! If you keep chasing me then I will kick you to death!” Fern stopped, turned around and threatened Jadon. Jadon had been kicked by her before, and he felt a slight pain in his lower body when he saw her lift her leg, but he would not run away because of this. He did not know what Fern did to make the teachers believe that she was not being supported by someone. However he still believed that Fern wasn’t involved with any other guys so therefore he felt happy by this. This proved that she still liked him and therefore he really must win back her heart. “Fern, what must I do to get you to forgive me?” Jadon approached Fern; if he saw her run then he could just grab her. Fern turned back and smiled at him, her smile dazzled like the stars in the sky. Jadon was taken aback by this smile, and then felt a pain in his crotch, cried out and fell down. “Bitch, why don’t you listen to me?” Every time she kicked him she felt his IQ fell. Before how was it possible that she actually liked this boy and thought that he only possessed such good qualities. As she thought this she now felt this really was too scary. Fern had been waiting to kick for a long time now, so she kicked him hard just so she could stop thinking about him and these thoughts anymore. Jadon fell to the ground and didn’t get up again for a long time. Hiding in the dark were two bodyguards that were ordered by Khalid to protect Fern and after they saw what had just happened they couldn’t help but wipe a sweat. They thought it was a very easy thing to protect a female college student like Fern, but they didn’t expect to have something to do so soon. However, before they had time to act, the object of protection put down the enemy. That kick was so fast and accurate that seeing this made them freeze on the spot. After Fern had walked away the two bodyguards sorted out their disordered thoughts and continued to follow her, however they then saw Jadon suddenly sit up, pick up a rock and smash it onto his leg. “What are you doing?” One of the bodyguards asked. “Yes you were hurt by love yet you still do something this crazy, are you insane?” The other bodyguard said. The two bodyguards really did not understand however they had no time to continue watching. They first had to report everything to Khalid and then continue to follow Fern. After Jadon had smashed his leg he rolled on the floor in pain. He then slowly pulled out his phone and dialled the emergency number 120. Not long after the ambulance came and took the injured Jadon to hospital. Fern heard the sound of the ambulance; however she had no interest in him anymore. After she returned to Khalid’s home, Khalid had already finished work and was waiting for her to eat dinner. She was well behaved the rest of the day; however she didn’t mention what had happened at school. The next day Jadon was in the hospital and his parents who had travelled from afar came to the hospital to see him. “Oh my son, what happened to you? How did you hurt yourself like this? Don’t you know how important your legs are, without them you are useless!” Jadon’s mother was called Annabel, and when she saw Jadon both of her temple’s turned white giving her a harsh look. However unable to bear seeing her child like this she threw herself onto his bed crying. His father who was called Noel also looked old; he seemed to be older than 50 years old approaching 60. Although he made no crying sound you could see he had tears in his eyes. It’s not easy for them to afford Jadon to go to university, and now he has injured his leg and was staying in such a good hospital which was expensive, all of these costs were getting too much for them. “Mum, dad, don’t worry about me. It is just a fracture, so nothing serious,” Jadon said. Because he feared pain he only managed to fracture his bone, however what he really wanted was to become disabled so he could rely on Fern for the rest of his life. “Even if there is no serious problem, do you know how much it costs per day for you to stay here? Now that really is a problem, so how about we get you discharged from the hospital and we look after you at home?” Jadon’s parents really worried about their money situation. In their family of three, they relied on him to do some physical work to not only sustain their daily life but also to support Jadon going to college. Therefore there really was no extra money to spend elsewhere. “No, I don’t want to go home. I’m waiting for my girlfriend to come see me.” Jadon said. He had never thought of money being a problem, he now just wanted Fern to come see him. Fern’s heart was weak; therefore once she saw that he was injured because of her she definitely would feel concerned about him. “Girlfriend? Do you mean Fern? Ah, why hasn’t she come to see you yet?” Annabel wiped her tears away and then looked around the patient’s room. The cabinet next to Jadon’s bed was clean, there were not even flowers placed on it which meant that no one had come to visit him. “Fern and I had a falling out recently, so she is angry at me at the moment. But it’s nothing to worry about; she doesn’t know that I’ve been injured yet. If she knew then she definitely would have come to see me by now.” Jadon replied. He had already told someone to notify Fern so he now believed that she would come soon. However the three of them craned their necks all afternoon waiting for her however she never came, instead two of Jadon’s roommates came. The two people that came were Jadon’s good friends. Although they didn’t agree with what Jadon did to try and win Fern back, however they still regarded him as their friend, and he was injured so they thought that they needed to come see him and bring him some fruit. Among the two roommates was the one that Jadon told to notify Fern about what happened. Once they came Jadon asked them about what happened with Fern. “I never saw her so I asked her classmate to tell her. If what you said it true and she really cares about you then once she knows you got hurt then she will come, so don’t worry.” The roommate said. Jadon looked towards the door of the room, his eyes showed signs of disappointment. Once Annabel saw his expression she just knew that their quarrel wasn’t so simple. So when the two roommates were leaving she took this opportunity to take them outside the room and then asked them a question. “You are both Jadon’s friend; therefore you must know what has happened between Jadon and Fern. Please tell me, I really cannot bear to see my son like this!” Inside Annabel felt very dissatisfied with Fern. She was Jadon’s girlfriend however has not come to see him even though he is injured in the hospital. No matter how big their argument was, looking after Jadon should be more important than anything, so she felt Fern really is quite selfish. “Annabel, has Jadon not said anything to you? He is in the process of breaking up with Fern, a few days ago it was discovered that Fern was being supported by a boss with a lot of money. So then Jadon because of what he did was punished by the school.” Jadon’s roommates were not able to lie, so as soon as she asked they told her everything. “What? They broke up?” Annabel was shocked. Although she was sometimes a little resentful of Fern because of her lack of manners, however, overall she was still very satisfied with her. She thought that as soon as they graduated then they would get married but now that she has discovered they have broken up, she really cannot accept this. “Yes, Jadon has been very upset by this. So Annabel since you have come, please keep him company the next few days.” After the two roommates said this they then left. Jadon’s mother walked back into the room in a daze, and once she saw Jadon she felt extremely sad for him. Although she was an outsider in this situation, however knowing that they had broken up was still so hard to accept, and she thought that her son really must be suffering right now. That Fern really is a heartless girl. “Dad, can you go outside and check for me if Fern has come or not. She doesn’t know which room I’m in so I’m afraid that if she has come then she won’t be able to find me.” Jadon said to his father.
