Chapter 20 Break Your Brain
Now on the sidewalk, people were coming and going. And they couldn’t help but stop and watch them when they heard Jaden’s words.
Fern felt very humiliated to be surrounded by so many people. She turned around again and ran towards the library.
Jaden was still after her and caught up to the library door again. There was a long flight of steps outside the gate. She was a good runner and had no trouble getting up the steps in a few strides, but it wasn’t so easy for Jaden to get up there.
By the time he climbed up, Fern was already in the library, so he threatened Fern as he climbed.
"Do you know how I got hurt? It was the other day when you kicked and got me hit. Fern, you can break up if you want, but you can’t hurt me and leave me alone. You’re so heartless!" Jaden shouted, afraid that Fern wouldn’t hear him.
Fern was about to enter the library and froze at his words.
"So you’re just trying to blame me?" Fern didn’t in the least think Jaden’s injury had anything to do with her. Not to say that she didn’t believe Jaden, even if what Jaden said was true, she kicked his dick but he broke his left leg. This only showed that he had an IQ problem.
Jaden slowly climbed the steps, "Don’t talk so harshly. Would I have been hurt if you hadn’t been so cruel to me? Fern, are you really not willing to give me another chance? I’ve heard your fiancé is rich, but I know you’re not the type of girl who sells her soul for money. How can you marry another man when the one you love is obviously me?"
"Did you break your leg or your brain? Where do you get the confidence to say I love you?" Fern was shocked beyond words by Jaden’s theory. Two months ago, perhaps she was in love with him. But now, especially after what Jaden had done to her in the past few days, she had nothing but disgust for him.
"Fern! How can you say that! Even though you guys broke up, my son is not someone you can just humiliate!" Annabel and Noel searched for a long time. They were so tired and sweaty that they finally found here. But as soon as they arrived, they heard Fern’s words, which pissed Annabel off.
Seeing that Jaden’s parents were here made Fern even more reluctant to continue to argue with him. She turned to go into the library, but she was once again held back by Jaden.
"Are you done yet?" Fern was really angry, and she shook Jaden’s hand off.
Jaden was standing on one leg and couldn’t keep his balance. He almost fell down the stairs when she shook him off. She subconsciously reached for him again, "Be careful. Don’t blame me if you fall because of your own stupidity."
Noel and Annabel immediately ran up the stairs. Without saying a word, they were pulling Jaden away.
"Dad, Mom, let go of me. I want to talk to her!" Jaden struggled not to go with them.
"There’s nothing more to say. I’m going to get sick of your voice if you keep talking. Just get out of here." Fern took a step back, further distancing herself from them.
Jaden shrugged off his parents’ hands and stood on his own, "Fern, I know you don’t mean it. You were just holding me back from falling. That shows that you still care about me. Can’t you just forgive me for this one time? Let’s start over. I promise I’ll never break your heart again."
"You are thinking too much, Jaden. In that situation just now, I would have done something to save even if it was a dog, let alone a living person." Fern was annoyed as hell, so she naturally spoke as badly as she could.
"Hey, who are you calling a dog?" Annabel pointed at Fern, "I never thought you were such a person. You’re greedy and vain. You don’t want my son when you have a rich fiancé. Luckily, my son saw your true colors in time. Otherwise, I really would have regretted it when you got married."
Annabel disliked Fern and thought she had abandoned Jaden just for Khalid’s money.
"Mrs Mccarthy. I’m saying I’d save even a dog like that. I didn’t call your son a dog." Besides, the dog was so cute. Did Jaden deserve it?
Of course, Fern wouldn’t dare say the second half of the sentence. She was afraid Jaden’s parents would beat her up.
"You...you’ve gone too far!" Noel also got annoyed when he felt his son was being scolded.
But they had come to take Jaden away, so he didn’t bother with Fern.
"Let’s go, son. Don’t waste your time with such people. It’s not worth it!" Noel and Annabel helped Jaden to go down the stairs.
Fern grunted and turned to go into the library.
It was then that Jaden suddenly struggled. He shook off his parents’ hands but stepped on his own feet and rolled right down the stairs.
"Son!" Noel and Annabel screamed.
When Fern turned back at the sound, she found Jaden already rolling down the steps. When he rolled to the ground, he landed face first on the ground. Twenty or thirty steps later, when he rolled to the bottom of the stairs, he was no longer moving. He fell to the ground. In a few moments, there was a big pool of blood dripping from his head.
"Call an ambulance." Fern was frightened. She didn’t follow Jaden’s parents down the stairs. She just took out her cell phone and dialed 120.
Jaden’s parents ran to Jaden’s side. Seeing him all bruised and bloodied, there was nothing they could do but hug him and cry.
The ambulance came soon after. Fern saw that Noel and Annabel were scared out of their wits, and she was the only one involved, so she had to go with them.
As soon as she got into the ambulance, the bodyguard who was secretly protecting her reported the news to Khalid.
Outside the emergency room, Fern was waiting with Noel and Annabel.
As Annabel calmed down, she began to feel scared and was even angrier when she saw Fern.
"It’s all your fault. You caused Jaden to fall and broke his leg, and now you’re causing him to fall like this. You’re a jinx!" Annabel said as she was going to run up and hit Fern.
Fern did freak out when she saw Jaden covered in blood. She was still stunned now and didn’t even think to hide.
But Annabel’s fist didn’t land on Fern. Two men in black suddenly rushed out of the side. They shielded Fern behind her and helped her block Annabel who had gone mad.
"Miss Woods, Mr. Marsh has asked you to go back for lunch." One bodyguard left with Fern, while the other stayed behind to deal with Annabel, who was manic.
Fern followed the bodyguard out of the hospital. Khalid’s car was waiting at the front door.
"What’s the matter, little girl? Aren’t you usually quite bold? Are you just scared by that?" Khalid had Fern in the passenger seat and leaned over to help her with her seat belt.
The unfamiliar male scent came over Fern’s nose and filled her nose, calling back her lost soul.
"Oh, my gosh. Mr. Marsh. What are you doing?" Fern subconsciously raised her hands to protect her chest.
Khalid was amused by her. He hadn’t intended to do anything, but now he was kind of interested in scaring her. He kept his posture and slowly approached as he buckled her seat belt.
Fern watched as a handsome face slowly approached. She forgot to resist, to hide, or even to breathe. Her eyes were widely open and her mind was blank.
There was a coughing sound in his ears as Khalid was about to kiss Fern just like that.
It was none other than the bodyguard who had just sent Fern out.
Khalid stopped his movements and stared up at him with murderous eyes.
"Is there anything else you want me to do, Mr. Marsh?" He sent Fern over, but Khalid acted as if he hadn’t seen him. He didn’t know where to go, so he had to stand and wait for orders. But as he waited, the two of them were going to kiss as if there was no one else in presence.
Did they ignore him totally?
Fern blushed and fell back in her seat with her hands over her face.
