Chapter 16 You Are Worthy of Me
Not long after Lesly fell asleep, she was awoken by an alarm.
She instinctively turned over and sat up. She then picked up the phone at the bedside.
The phone’s screen had become completely red. A word continuously appeared on the screen. "Intruder."
This was a security monitoring system set by Lucca. As long as a stranger approached the small house, the alarm would remind them.
Lesly put on her shoes and ran out of the bedroom in a few steps.
Lucca was also awakened. As soon as he opened the door, he ran to Lulu’s room next door. Seeing Lesly come out, Lucca calmly said, "Mommy, there are bad people coming. I’ll take my sister to hide."
Lesly nodded and went to the balcony. She opened a corner of the curtain and looked down.
At the gate downstairs, a black figure with a barrel of oil quietly approached the door of the small house. The black figure then poured gasoline along the wall little by little.
The strong smell of gasoline drifted through the cracks of the window.
Lesly immediately understood that these people were trying to burn them to death.
But Lesly had just returned, and her job had not yet begun. She had not offended anyone. Who could be so vicious as to even kill children?
Lesly frowned and clenched her phone. After a few seconds, she reluctantly dialed a number.
The phone was quickly connected. Through the phone came a man’s voice with a devilish tone. "Lesly?"
Lesly lowered her head and said yes.
There were a few laughs on the phone, and there was pride and joy in the voice. "I knew you’d still contact me. Did you get into trouble?"
Lesly whispered, "Someone is at my door trying to burn me to death with gasoline..."
"Oh." The man couldn’t wait to say, "Do you want me to help you?"
Lesly looked away, feeling a little unhappy. "Don’t you already know the answer? I even called you..."
The obvious unhappiness in her tone pleased the man.
The man smiled and said, "Okay, I’ll help you. In fact, my people are behind them. Even if you don’t call me tonight, I would have helped you."
"Oh, then I’ll hang up." Lesly was about to hang up the phone.
"Lesly." The man on the other side of the phone said, "Don’t forget what you promised me. I owe you three favors, so I will only help you with three things. After these three things, you can no longer refuse my proposal."
Lesly was a little tired, "Allen, I’ve married before and have three children, I..."
"You deserve me." Allen interrupted Lesly. "Only you are worthy of me."
While they were talking, Lesly saw two more figures coming in from outside the wall. They were silent, hiding in the darkness like ghosts, and easily knocked out the people who came in, dragging them out of the courtyard.
"Lesly." Allen spoke again, "Do you want to know who wants to kill you?"
Lesly asked, "Will this be considered a favor?"
Allen smiled and said, "Of course."
"Then I will check it out myself. Thank you for helping me tonight." After that, Lesly hung up the phone quickly.
Subsequently, Lesly packed up their things and moved to a hotel with strict security for temporary stay with the two children and Aunt Elyse.
Only after dawn was everything settled.
Lucca and Lulu were up all night. Thus, they fell asleep as soon as they arrived at the hotel.
Lesly changed her clothes, but she was not sleepy at all.
She had already guessed who the person was—Gavin’s wife.
Only that his wife would have a grudge against Lesly.
As for whether it was true or not, she would know when the sun rose.
Lesly’s phone suddenly vibrated while she was thinking. A strange phone call came in.
Lesly was afraid that it was related to the work, so she picked it up. "Hello?"
"Lesly." On the other side of the phone came Gavin’s cold voice. "You have violated the contract."
Lesly did not react in time. "What?"
Gavin’s voice turned even colder. "I’ve warned you not to tell Arnav that you were his mother, yet you contacted him behind my back and made him take you away. How dare you!"
Lesly knew that Gavin and all the maids had mistaken Lucca for Arnav, but she couldn’t explain. She could only say, "Who told you to illegally detain me? Gavin, I’m also warning you. From now on, don’t keep threatening me. I’m not as easy to bully as you think!"
After that, Lesly hung up the phone and blocked the number.
