Chapter 39: When Can We Leave?
Lesly bought the food and went back to the villa.
The room was empty and dark. The lights were closed. There were no signs of Harry, Lulu, and Lucca.
What was going on? Did something happen?
Lesly panicked and immediately called Harry, saying, "Harry, where are you? Why is there no one home?"
Harry said gently, "Lesly, don’t worry. Lulu suddenly had a high fever. Lucca and I took her to the hospital. We’re now in Bayview General Hospital. The car is in the garage. You can drive over."
His voice was calm and helped ease Lesly’s emotions.
Lesly calmed down. "Okay, I’ll be right there."
Putting down her things, Lesly hurriedly drove and left the villa.
She drove so fast that the car window was still open. She opened the gate of the villa and left just like that.
Millie, who had not left yet, saw Lesly rushing out of the house.
Millie was stunned. She immediately got into her own car and followed behind Lesly.
At that moment, Millie’s cell phone rang. It was Gavin calling back.
Just now, Millie had called Gavin, but he did not answer.
"What’s wrong?" Gavin asked in an indifferent voice.
Millie stared at the taillights of Lesly’s car. She pretended to be soft and gentle and said, "What’s wrong? Gavin, why did you suddenly call me?"
Gavin said, "Aren’t you the one who called me first?"
"Really?" Millie said deliberately, "Maybe I pressed it accidentally. Sorry, Gavin, I made you worry."
"It’s okay, then I’ll hang up first."
"Alright."
......
Lesly rushed to the private hospital as fast as she could.
Lulu had fallen asleep after eating her medicine.
"How is she?" Lesly quickly entered the VIP ward and whispered.
"She’s alright now, her fever has gone down," Harry replied softly. He grabbed Lesly’s hand and moved her to the side of the bed, allowing Lesly to sit down. "Speaking of which, it’s all my fault. When we went out to play today, she caught a cold which caused her fever. Sorry, Lesly."
"It’s not your fault." Lesly touched Lulu’s forehead, which was still burning. "You took care of her for me and took her out to play. I should thank you."
Harry smiled and said, "You’re making me feel guilty by acting like this."
Lesly looked at him and smiled, "Then you don’t need to take responsibility."
Harry also smiled, gently putting his hand on Lesly’s shoulder, "Have you had dinner? Shall I go out to buy you some porridge?"
"Yes, please. Thank you."
Harry turned around and met Lucca’s eyes.
Lucca sat quietly on the sofa, with his dark eyes and expressionless face, staring at Harry coldly and calmly.
Harry was inexplicably shocked, but he quickly calmed down and put on a gentle smile. "What about you, Lucca? Is there anything you want to eat?"
Lucca’s voice was cold. "There’s no need."
Harry nodded and left the ward.
Outside the ward, at a blind spot, Millie was hiding against the wall.
After Harry walked away, Millie took off her high heels and walked towards the ward.
Through the crack of the door, she could see Lulu on the hospital bed. Lesly stood in front of the bed.
"Mommy." In the ward, there was a boy’s voice with a mature tone. "When can we leave here?"
Lesly turned back and signalled for Lucca to come to her.
Lucca walked over obediently and went into Lesly’s arms.
"Don’t you like this place?"
Lucca shook his head. "Not at all."
"Why? Isn’t it good here? Did something happen?"
Lucca leaned on Lesly’s shoulder, "I just don’t like it here. I want to go back to our home abroad, just me, mommy, and Lulu."
Lesly was stunned for a moment and was about to ask a question when she saw Lucca suddenly turn around and stare at the door.
"What’s wrong?" Lesly also looked outside the door.
The door was empty. Nothing unusual happened.
Lucca stared at it for a while. He lowered its eyes and shook its head. "Nothing."
