Chapter 20

I have always known his eyes were beautiful... captivating even. However, I have ignored his other striking traits. His nose was as if carved by the Greek gods themselves. His dark brown hair was slick back and my fingers were itching to brush it and mess it up. And I’m sure that he’d still kill that messy look. He was drop dead gorgeous. He was a businessman but the male models would have bow down for his killer looks. He was well built, his muscles were attractively on the right places. There was no denying that this man works out a lot. I wouldn’t wanna know what’s under those clothes but I’m sure women would die to see and touch those gorgeous abs. And did I mention his lips were plump? And if you stare at it for long, you’d know the word kissable? My fingers slid up from his neck to his hair. The distance on our faces came closer than ever. We instantly know where this is going. We wanted to do it either way. Our lips opened slightly getting ready for what’s to come. I could feel the small touch from his lips to mine. "Stefano." We froze. We quickly pulled away from each other. I looked away avoiding his gaze and the two people who called Stefano’s attention. I stole a glance. It was a handsome man and a very beautiful woman by his side. I assume they were a married couple considering the affection that was obvious between them. "Stefano..." The snicker on the man’s face was inescapable. Stefano coughed awkwardly. "Brayden... shouldn’t you be dancing with Camryn right now?" Camryn, the name of the woman beside Brayden, smiled teasingly. "We just did. It’s your fault why we stopped, Stefano. We were surprised to see you dancing with... " She looked at me amusingly. "a very beautiful woman I might add." "I always dance with women in parties, Camryn." Stefano replied. "Your mom, yes. Your cousins, yes. Other relatives, yes. Business associates, maybe.  That is if you need something from them." She snickered. "But intimate..." She chuckled. "I’d like to see that." Stefano gave her a glare but the two didn’t budge. They were clearly amused by their friend. I noticed his tension. "Hi, I’m Avery." I interjected. I offered my hand to them. "Camryn, his wife." She pointed to Brayden and shook my hand. "Brayden." He smiled and shook my hand. "Tsk. Tsk. Have some manners, Stefano. You didn’t even introduce her to us." She teased. "She already did." Stefano’s frown wasn’t leaving his face again. "Ashton, Stefano and I are best of friends, Avery. We are since college. Ashton and Stefano had long been since high school though." Brayden explained. "Darling, I can’t wait for the others to come and have our little reunion." Camryn giggled. Stefano rolled his eyes. There was mischief in her adorable blue eyes. "Well, I can’t wait for our boy Ashton to join the club. Goodbye good ol freedom." The couple laughed and I smiled at the scene. Stefano just shook his head from the two’s antics. "Yes, laugh at me all you want." Ashton popped out of nowhere. He was crossing his arms. Sierra was beside him. She smiled at me and walked towards me. "Hey." She greeted. I smiled at her. The four old friends were engaged in their conversation. Sierra and I talked on our own. "Your mood is better. Some good news?" I asked. "No. Not really. Well, when you sat down with me and talked, I’m trying to see things positively now. I mean Ashton’s friends are very good looking you know. If we get a divorce. I’ll be running after his friends." We laughed. "You’re evil." I said. "Good for you, Sierra. I hope you’ll not fall in love with him at that time." I teased. Her face creased. "Ew, no way. Eww, Avery. I’m not going to have feelings with a womaniser. Who knows, he might have STD or something." She said with a disgusted look. "Hey, I’m right here, babe." Ashton embraced Sierra around his arms and tried to kiss her cheek. Sierra tried to push him away. She was screaming to get off of her. The rest of us laughed. I looked at Stefano and saw him with a small smile. It was rare for him to have that relaxed face. I swear it just made my heart skipped. --- I was waiting for Stefano at the front porch. He was having his last minute goodbyes to his friends. He was held up yet again when we were on our way out. I plan to wait for him here instead. As I looked around, I saw a pair of ocean blue eyes looking straight at me. I was caught with surprise and froze. He stared at me blankly but I knew deep inside, there were emotions riling up. I opened my mouth to call him. "Miss White." But Stefano suddenly came and I lost my chance. I looked at him. He looked at where my eyes came from. I looked back at Ryker who was clenching and unclenching his fists. He glared menacingly at Stefano. The tension between them became so unbearable. "We should go." I interrupted. Stefano seemed hesitant to back down and just ignored me. The two are imperious. I don’t have time for this predator and predator finding out who’s the king of the jungle. I stepped in front of Stefano. "I said we should go." I said lowly. He finally took notice of me. He looked back at Ryker again. I groaned. I grabbed his hand and dragged him away. I opened the passenger seat and let him in. He didn’t move instead he pushed me in roughly. He closed the door and walked towards the driver’s side. He opened the door and sat down on his seat. He closed the car’s door with a loud bang. I winced at the sound. "What the **** was that about?" I asked almost yelling. He started the car and he drove out from the parking lot. Several minutes later, he still didn’t answer me so I just calmed myself down and stayed quiet. "I thought you no longer have anything to do with each other." I turned to him. My eyebrows knitted together. "What?" I asked as I turned to look at him. His attention was straight on the road. He had a scowl look on his face. He brushed me off again and didn’t answer. I was growing frustrated but I just swallowed it and leave him be. The drive was deafening with silence. Not long, we reached to my apartment. Whilst ignoring him, I unlocked the door. I opened it and got out. I closed it without looking back. I never noticed when he left but I don’t really care right now. His attitude was pissing me off. One minute he’s admirable, another minute he’s maddening. The stupid handsome bastard is making me hate him even more.
