Chapter 31: Find Ways to Make Some Money

Yu Jinli didn’t linger after the treatment since he hadn’t finished dinner yet. Having recovered from his excitement, he started to miss his cooking. He hadn’t eaten any good food for days so he really really missed it. When Yu Jinli was downstairs in the dining room again, he found that both Qiao Mulan and Jiang Zhentao were waiting for him without eating at all. The dinner table remained the same. All of a sudden, Yu Jinli felt a bit awkward. It was so impolite of him to rush upstairs to bring a particular someone food in the middle of dinner and let dad and mom wait with empty stomachs. “Dad, mom, you don’t have to wait for me,” said Yu Jinli shyly. “Such a delicious meal will of course taste better when we eat together,” said Qiao Mulan smilingly as she asked a servant to fill Yu Jinli’s bowl. Sure enough, this was the best. Even those most ordinary dishes were delicious. Yu Jinli, the chef, had a sense of achievement seeing Qiao Mulan and Jiang Zhentao enjoy this meal and finish the last drop of soup. Right at this moment, something strange happened. A few scattered dots of Power of Faith came from outside and went into Yu Jinli’s body which left him at a loss. Pure Power of Faith came from genuine love and admiration which wasn’t easy to generate. Yu Jinli understood it when he saw Power of Faith from Qiao Mulan and Jiang Zhentao since they liked and cared about him, more so due to his cooking tonight, which made Power of Faith possible. However, the dots of Power of Faith that came now clearly didn’t come from those in Jiang Family. Yet he had not met anybody else except them. Then, where did that come from? Yu Jinli was at the end of his wits. If his sect-brother and master shifu were here, they would know the answer to that. But he didn’t dwell on that for too long. When he couldn’t figure something out, he just put it behind him. Perhaps he might understand it sometime. Now that it worked in his favor, the more reason he didn’t need to worry about it. Therefore, he ran the Power of Faith he just absorbed in his body and turned it into spirit power in his inner core. He had accumulated more spirit power by absorbing Power of Faith than he did from spiritual objects in total for the past few days. Sure enough, cultivation through Power of Faith took less time than that by eating spiritual objects. It would be better if he could find ways to get more Power of Faith. At this point, computer came to his mind. In his previous world, he learned to use computer himself. Google had a solution to every problem he had. He found human super intelligent to have invented computer which knew everything. He wondered if computer in this world was as powerful as that of his previous world. However, a computer wasn’t cheap back in his previous world. It might also be the case here. Yu Jinli felt a bit divided looking at his empty pocket. When he left Yu Family to “get married”, it didn’t give him any dowry. In addition, when he was in Yu Family, he had nothing except for his own identification. Therefore, Yu Jinli didn’t have a smart watch. Nor did he have credit. Without credit, he couldn’t buy one smart watch. Without a smart watch, he wouldn’t be able to find out how to have others like him to generate more Power of Faith, without which he couldn’t cultivate. How sad. Perhaps since his mind was on smart watch and cultivation, Yu Jinli had been a bit down. His was still in low spirits the next day when he brought Jiang Mosheng his meal. Jiang Mosheng’s heart sank when he saw the usual cheerful Yu Jinli upset. His black eyes became deeper, like black holes that one might fall into and never get out of if being careless. Did someone bully him? That thought made Jiang Mosheng want to get up and avenge him. However, right now, he couldn’t do anything except for worrying. Again, he hated his injury. If it hadn’t happened, his family wouldn’t get where it was today, nor would people around him get bullied. Perceptive as he was, Yu Jinli noticed that Jiang Mosheng’s mood changed. He put his thoughts behind him and asked worriedly: “What’s the matter? Is it the toxin again?” The toxin in Jiang Mosheng’s body was strong. Every once in a while it would give him a hard time. The pain it caused was unbearable by ordinary people’s standards. However, Jiang Mosheng wasn’t ordinary so he endured the pain every time. Ever since Yu Jinli was here, it took the toxin longer to take effect. When it did, it was less painful. Seeing that Yu Jinli was concerned about him, the anger in Jiang Mosheng subsided. He sidestepped the question: “Why are you upset?” “Ah?” Yu Jinli hadn’t quite caught up with what was happening. “You seem upset.” Jiang Mosheng repeated. Unconsciously, Yu Jinli touched his face. Was it all written on his face that something was bothering him? “It’s nothing, just... Do you know any lucrative jobs?” asked Yu Jinli. Now, he needed money for a smart watch, but since he hadn’t worked in his previous world, he didn’t know what jobs made fast money. Hearing that, Jiang Mosheng’s brows drew tightly together. It didn’t occur to him that Yu Jinli was bothered by money. Without thinking, he said: “What’s your account?” “Ah?” Once again, Yu Jinli wasn’t very clear about what was happening. “Give me your hand,” said Jiang Mosheng. People normally had their accounts in smart watches that were worn on the wrist. However, when Yu Jinli extended his hands with nothing around his wrists, Jiang Mosheng was left speechless since Yu Jinli didn’t have one. “Where’s your smart watch?” asked Jiang Mosheng. Normally, a person’s information was stored in his smart watch. One could start his smart watch when his information was needed. Besides smart watch, there were portable and desktop ones. However, the latter two were only used to surf the Internet instead of storing personal information. “I don’t have one. That’s why I want a job.” Yu Jinli answered after considering. Perhaps smart watch here was similar to computers in his previous world. “You are too young to work. Here, have mine. There’s credit in it.” Jiang Mosheng told him. Yu Jinli’s eyes lit up. “Really? Don’t you need it?” “Not now, I don’t. You have it for now. After I recover, I’ll take you and buy you one.” Jiang Mosheng’s lips curved in a smile seeing that Yu Jinli’s spirits were lifted. Therefore, the rest of the day, the room was filled with Jiang Mosheng’s voice, teaching Yu Jinli how to use the smart watch and Yu Jinli’s questions. Everything went well. Finally having a smart watch which was free made Yu Jinli over the moon. After learning how to use it, another door opened in front of him. He was more excited now than he was when he learned how to use a computer since smart watches had a hologram function which was said to be able to let users enter its world. Why was it said to be? Because right now Yu Jinli wasn’t fit enough to enter that virtual world so he could simply use the surfing function. He really hated that. However, since he was in someone else’s body which had been weak since it was brought in this world, he had no alternative. If he had his own body, he would have been able to enter that virtual world already. He wondered what that world was like and whether it was the same as this one? Now he was more curious about this world. After he learned how to use the smart watch, he spent almost all his time on star-net, browsing through posts with great interest. When he was in his previous world, he enjoyed lingering on online forums for gossips. As a koi fish, he needed to follow the latest trend and the best place for him to do that was online forums. He had brought that habit into this world. However, he wasn’t in a hurry to learn about any facts about this world, he was in for some gossips. What a quirky little koi. He logged on several forums which had basically the same thing - all posts praying for blessings for one person. “I wonder how young general is doing right now? Anyone knows please tell me about it. I’m really worried about him. Hope he’ll recover soon.” “He’ll be fine. He is the god of war and the guardian of our Federation. He won’t fall. He’s gonna make it.” “I believe young general will get through this. I’m willing to trade ten years of my life for his recovery!” “*Sobs... young general was hurt in order to protect us. I don’t want him to die! No!” “Young general won’t die. He is the best of all. Our Federation counts on him. He won’t abandon us.”
