Chapter 11: I’m Begging You to Let Me Go

"Arthur, I’m begging you to let me go, okay?" Lucy finally couldn’t bear it anymore and screamed. She was extremely angry! She didn’t want to be his exclusive prostitute anymore, nor did she want to give her all and change herself to please a man anymore! She was who she was. She wouldn’t live her life for him again! If he let her go, who would let him go?! Since she had messed with him first eight years ago, then she should pay the price for it! His tone was gentle like never before. "Lucy, since the child’s gone, let’s have another." The word "child" stung Lucy’s heart and an indescribable sense of shame came over her. She gripped the car seat hard and said mockingly, "Won’t your beloved Elyse who’s in heaven feel sad if you have a child with me?" Arthur froze and frowned.  Lucy gave a short laugh while bitterness filled her heart. As expected, she was nothing more than a replacement! She pushed him away and opened the car door, wanting to get out. "Lucy, did you have to stoop so low?" Arthur pulled her back by force. "That’s right, that’s how low I can stoop. You’ve said those words before eight years ago." Lucy smiled mockingly while her heart trembled. "Can you let go now?" Arthur held her waist tightly. He didn’t like her tone. "We’re not divorced. If you don’t come with me, where will you go?!" "You want me to go with you?" Lucy laughed aloud as if she had heard a joke. Eight years ago, she had ignored all consequences to be with him, but he didn’t think she was even worthy of one glance. Now that her feelings were gone, and she wanted to live her life peacefully far away from him, he was begging her to reconcile?  Arthur was at a loss. He thought five years would be enough for him to forget someone, but time had only deepened his longing for Lucy. Since he was sure that he wanted her, he would not let her go again! "Alright then! Forget Elyse and give my child back to me, then I’ll get back together with you. How’s that? It’s a good deal, isn’t it?" "Lucy Morgan!" Lucy looked at his fierce expression and felt a chill run down her spine. "Arthur, we’re over. Don’t pester me anymore!" She would never be a replacement for someone else! Never again! "Ha!" Arthur sneered and gripped her chin. "Lucy, do you think you can leave as you wish without my permission?" She could only be his woman for life! "Arthur, you’ve already killed me once. Isn’t that enough? Do you want to kill me again?" She shook him off and bit his hand. Just as he loosened his grip from the pain, she grabbed her bag and stumbled away. A taxi happened to pass by. Lucy flagged it down and climbed into it almost miserably.
