Chapter 52 We Have Children
Lesly saw Gavin’s cold face and felt a chill run through her spine.
His mind was in a mess.
Why was he here? What was he doing here?
"Oh, Gavin has come." Mckayla’s sweet voice broke the weird silence of the room. She took the initiative to say, "Your nephew just proposed. They are wearing the ring. Come over quickly."
Nephew?
Lesly’s thoughts stirred, and her voice was hoarse. "Harry, who is Gavin to you?"
Harry wanted to grab Lesly’s hand, but she avoided it.
"Don’t touch me. Answer me first."
"Lesly, when I get back, I’ll explain it to you. Now, can you accept my proposal first?"
"No, I want you to answer me first." Lesly stubbornly asked, "Who is he to you?"
"Oh, Lesly, don’t you know?" Mckayla spoke again. "Gavin is Harry’s uncle, and Gavin and Harry’s mother are half-siblings who have the same father."
Lesly was stunned, and she suddenly realized something.
"You were so kind to me when you first met me. Was there any other purpose?"
"No," Harry hurriedly explained, "We’ve been together for so many years. Can’t you feel that I’m sincere towards you?"
"Then why didn’t you tell me that Gavin is your uncle?" Lesly could not understand, but became even angrier. "Why did you fool me for eight years?"
"I..." Harry was hesitant and could not explain.
Lesly stepped back a few more steps. Looking at Harry’s face again, she only felt like he was a stranger.
She had known him for eight years, lived with him for seven years, and spent several thousand days and nights together, but she had never understood him.
"What’s going on?" Mrs. Whitaker was confused. "Why are you all suddenly quarreling? Lesly, tell me, what’s going on? Why haven’t you agreed to the proposal?"
Lesly watched the ridiculous scene in front of her and suddenly gave up. She replied, "Because we..."
"Because she is my ex-wife." Gavin spoke faster than Lesly. "She is my sinister and shameless ex-wife."
"What?" Mrs. Whitaker was shocked. "She is that woman?"
Mrs. Whitaker had never seen the woman who Gavin married in her early years, because she forced Gavin to marry her by using underhanded means. Mrs. Whitaker had always been upright and looked down on promiscuous women, so she didn’t even want to meet her once.
She didn’t expect that woman to become Harry’s girlfriend after six years.
"No wonder I said this woman looked so familiar!" Mr. Whitaker finally remembered. "I have seen Gavin’s ex-wife from far away before!"
Mrs. Whitaker immediately turned hostile. "Harry, how dare you bring such a woman home? Aren’t you afraid of tainting our reputation?"
"Mom, don’t say that." Harry stood in front of Lesly. His eyes were firm and somewhat provocative. He looked at Gavin and said, "Lesly and I already have children."
"What?"
That sentence shocked everyone in the room, including Lesly.
Lesly instantly understood what Harry wanted to do.
"No, don’t say it." Lesly wanted to stop him, but Harry was determined and did not care about Lesly’s feelings at all.
"She and I have two children. A daughter and a son," Harry said, "Mom, if you don’t agree to our marriage, then the two children can only be illegitimate children."
"You!" Mrs. Whitaker was so angry that she fainted. Her body became limp as she fell backward.
"Honey!" Mr. Whitaker hurriedly hugged his wife and also became angry at Harry. "You unfilial thing. How can you have a baby with such a woman without our knowledge? She has been married and had a child!"
"So what?" Harry’s gaze remained firm. "I’m in love with her and want to spend the rest of my life with her. No matter who she was, my heart will never change."
Lesly’s eyes moved. She didn’t know that Harry had been thinking about her in such a way.
"Are you crazy?" Mr. Whitaker’s face turned red with anger. "She used to be your aunt-in-law! She married Gavin. Do you know that you are acting recklessly now?"
