Chapter 60: Really Getting Better

“It’s okay, the same as always. Just ignore it.” Trying to smile, Jiang Zhentao didn’t want his wife to worry but he himself was anxious about the future of Jiang Family. “Don’t worry, Zhentao, our son will be alright. So will our family.” Qiao Mulan consoled him. With little chestnut here, Ah Sheng would be alright. Jiang Family wouldn’t collapse. After her son recovered, she wanted to see how those people who had made things difficult for her family would behave. That reminded Jiang Zhentao that his wife had spoken about their son’s recovery. He hadn’t paid much attention to that because he was occupied with Jiang Family’s future and military affairs. Hearing it from his wife again made him wonder whether Ah Sheng had really gotten better. But he of all people knew best how harmful the toxin of Zerg Overmind was. A few years ago, having been injected with a little of that toxin, his health had badly deteriorated. Besides, the toxin in his son’s body was injected by Zerg Overmind as the last resort which would only mean more and had left his son on the verge of death. For years, doctors of the Federation hadn’t worked out an antidote. Could Yu Jinli really have a solution? It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Yu Jinli. It was simply because the toxin was extremely poisonous. Till this day, there wasn’t an antidote but he still had a bit of hope in the bottom of his heart. If Jiang Mosheng did get better, Jiang Family wouldn’t decline in the future, which would be a big disappointment to those who were waiting to see their downfall. “Ah Sheng looks better now. I’m going to send for Doctor Shen to give him a check. But we can’t let slip of what’s happening yet,” said Qiao Mulan. Shen Qian was Jiang Family’s trusted family doctor, which was why Qiao Mulan wanted him to give Jiang Mosheng a check. Though she believed her son and little chestnut, she would only set her mind at ease with a more specific result. Apparently, Jiang Zhentao had the same idea. Immediately, he connected Shen Qian through a video call and asked him to come over for a check. Ever since Jiang Mosheng’s injury, Shen Qian would come over regularly for checks. Everyone knew that he was Jiang Family’s family doctor. Therefore, Shen Qian’s appearance at Jiang Family’s manor wouldn’t draw suspicion but there were a lot of people who were waiting for a good show. Shen Qian arrived immediately after the call. With every equipment ready in Jiang’s Manor, it was easy to run a check. Jiang Mosheng knew that his parents were worried about his condition. A check would set their mind at ease. Yu Jinli, who had never seen all the medical equipment was curious. Standing aside, his big eyes turned here and there, amazed by every equipment he set eyes on. His eyes widened when he saw the man in white robe put Jiang Mosheng in a large container filled with liquid. Breathing in water? Was his golden coattail the same as him, a fish spirit beast? Excited about his discovery, Yu Jinli felt a more intimate connection with Jiang Mosheng. He was lucky enough to have found a spirit beast in this world. It turned out that person was also a fish spirit beast like him! It must have been destiny! His head moved in joy with his eyes fixed on Jiang Mosheng, not realizing that it wasn’t water in the container at all. Before today, Shen Qian had run multiple checks on Jiang Mosheng whose health showed deterioration each time. He was prepared to see Jiang Mosheng in a weaker state. Thinking that something must have been wrong with his operation, he ran a check again which gave him the same result. The shock on Shen Qian’s face explained everything. Both Jiang Zhentao and Qiao Mulan turned cheerful. “Ah Qian, is Ah Sheng... really getting better?” Feeling a sting in her eyes which became watery, there was also sobs in Qiao Mulan’s voice. “Aunt Qiao, Ah Sheng is indeed getting better. There was an unknown power in him which forced the toxin to a corner and prevented it from spreading across his system. His inner injuries are almost healed because of that power. I believe Ah Sheng will fully recover when there is an antidote.” Recovering from his shock, Shen Qian said to Qiao Mulan, excited. Though she had already known that, she burst out crying when she heard it from Shen Qian. She didn’t cry when she knew Jiang Mosheng was fighting against Zerg Overmind. Nor did she cry when she learned that Jiang Mosheng was in imminent danger because of Zerg toxin. Now that she learned that her son was getting better, that her son wasn’t going to die, she couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. Having put up with all this pressure for such a long time, she finally cried. Jiang Zhentao held his wife and let her cry out her stress. He knew that she had been holding it in her heart for too long, and if she didn’t vent it out, he was worried that she might be suffocated by it. “Ah Qian, Ah Sheng’s position is very special. I don’t want anyone to know about his condition before he fully recovers.” As he consoled his wife, Jiang Zhentao told Shen Qian. “I understand it, Uncle Jiang,” said Shen Qian seriously. Though he was a doctor not a military man, his family had been on good terms with Jiang Family for generations. Both his father and brother were in the military so he had heard about what happened at the headquarter, knowing that many forces were ready to take Jiang Family down. Turning to Jiang Mosheng who was lying in the container, a smirk appeared on Shen Qian’s face. He wondered what expressions would those people put on when they saw Ah Sheng healthy again? It must be interesting. It was a pity that he didn’t work in the military and couldn’t see it first. After the check, Shen Qian finally noticed Yu Jinli who was watching all the equipment curiously with interest. He heard that Aunt Qiao had picked up Ah Sheng’s fiancé and was going to let the two get married. So, this boy in front of him was the fiancé, whom Ah Sheng had had an engagement with since childhood? Though he hadn’t met Yu Jinsheng, he had heard quite a lot about him, especially that he bragged to everyone that he was Jiang Mosheng’s fiancé, as if he was afraid that others didn’t know about it. Arrogant, and despotic, Yu Jinsheng often took advantage of his position to bully others and didn’t have a good reputation. Now he finally met Yu Jinsheng, who didn’t seem similar at all to what he had heard. Could it all be a misunderstanding? Keen as Yu Jinli was, he felt that someone was staring at him so he turned to that person and found that doctor was looking at him smilingly. However, he found that smile a bit strange which weirded him out. A bit afraid, he moved towards the container, wanting to cover himself under the protection of his golden coattail’s virtue golden glow. With virtue golden glow, anyone with malice wouldn’t be able to harm him. Just getting out of the container, Jiang Mosheng turned serious as he noticed Yu Jinli’s subtle movement and Shen Qian’s inquisitive eyes while shielding the little one behind him from Shen Qian. Shen Qian was more intrigued. It was the first time he saw Jiang Mosheng care so much about someone. He knew what Yu Jinsheng was here for. Before, Jiang Mosheng was on the verge of death, it was possible that he accepted this fiancé since there was no alternative. Now that Jiang Mosheng was getting better, given how well he knew Ah Sheng, he didn’t think he would accept this fiancé anymore. It turned out he was wrong. “Ah Sheng, aren’t you going to introduce us?” With his brows slightly raised, Shen Qian opened his mouth. Jiang Mosheng and Shen Qian grew up together. The two were close and knew each other well. Knowing that Shen Qian wouldn’t stop until he got what he wanted, Jiang Mosheng worried that he might conduct a search even if he didn’t introduce the two. In order to spare himself all the potential troubles and accidents, he made an introduction directly: “This is my fiancé, Yu Jinli, also known as little chestnut. That is Shen Qian, my friend since childhood and our family doctor.” Jiang Mosheng introduced the two. Yu Jinli? Not Yu Jinsheng? Stunned to hear that name, Shen Qian quickly recovered to his normal self. That made sense. A snob as Yu Family wouldn’t marry its baby boy to Ah Sheng, knowing that he didn’t have much time left. However, since this one’s family name was also Yu and married in such a situation, it must have been Yu Family’s idea. On the surface, Yu Family had three sons and a daughter, none of whom was called Yu Jinli which reminded Shen Qian of a bastard son remained off record. So it was the one in front of him. Yu Jinli was still thinking about the stare which weirded him out when he saw that man extend his hand to him smilingly which pushed that strange feeling out of his mind as if it was just an illusion. “Nice to meet you.” Yu Jinli’s small hand shook Shen Qian’s. Finding that man meant no harm, he was finally relieved. Jiang Mosheng, however, separated the two without batting an eyelid.
