Chapter 74: Activating the Energy Card

Ever since he decided to attend school, Yu Jinli had been in high spirits. He had been pestering Jiang Mosheng with questions about school in this world. Card Forger School, Machine Armor Science, Mutant School, and Machine Armor Manufacture all needed special test before they admitted students. Students who didn’t pass the test couldn’t study these four majors, not even students of powerful families. There was a small number of students in Card Forger School. Yet, it was the most important school for the Federation. In addition, Card Forgers were held in great esteem, whose population was even smaller and more valuable than mutants. Compared to the previous two schools, Machine Armor Science was less strict with its students. Everyone whose physique reached Grade B could apply. The requirements of enrollment of other majors were more relaxed. Usually, powerful families would recommend their children to majors other than the previous three ones, mainly Machine Armor Manufacture. “What does a Card Forger do?” asked Yu Jinli curiously. In fact, it wasn’t the first time he heard about Card Forger. It can be activated by a mutant and create powerful attacks," explained Jiang Mosheng. Having seen the energy card, Yu Jinli turned to Jiang Mosheng with suspicion. Though he had never attended school, he wouldn’t be fooled by some random picture. Even if he was a fool, he could tell it was just a picture. Perhaps aware of Yu Jinli’s questioning eyes, Jiang Mosheng couldn’t help but laughing a bit as he said: “Just a moment. I’ll bring you a real one.” As a rare Grade S mutant, Jiang Mosheng had plenty of energy cards around. Opening a drawer, he took out a Grade D energy card he used to practice with and showed it to Yu Jinli. It was of similar size as a bank card in Yu Jinli’s previous world with lifelike pictures on it. It was better than a mere picture on smart watch. “So, this is an energy card?” Yu Jinli couldn’t tear himself away from this card with his eyes fixed on it. He felt close to it that he wanted to search it with his spirit consciousness. “Yes. A mutant activates the energy of a super beast or super plant sealed in it with his own super core. This is a super beast energy card,” said Jiang Mosheng. Looking at the lifelike beast on the card, Yu Jinli wondered what it was like when it was activated. Jiang Mosheng turned on his smart watch again and found a video in which a mutant used an energy card in a battle. Though Yu Jinli was a normal person, Jiang Mosheng didn’t want to say no to any of his requirements once he saw how curious Yu Jinli was about Card Forger. In the video, the mutant channeled his super power into the energy card. Immediately, a giant beast flew out of that small card - the same beast on the card and started to attack the enemy. So, that was how an energy card came into use. It was similar to Seal Script master shifu taught Yu Jinli. However, in his short time of study, he simply learned Seal Script of five elements and wasn’t at the level to learn Seal Script of beasts and spirit plants. With glowing eyes, Yu Jinli watched the video again. Clearly, he was very interested in Card Forger. Jiang Mosheng was a bit worried and felt sorry for Yu Jinli. In the Federation, Card Forger was rare and was well-protected. Yet, it was very difficult to become one. One must have inner focus. However, Yu Jinli didn’t have it. “Ah Sheng, this Card Forger is brilliant. I want to join Card Forger School,” said Yu Jinli, excited. “Little chestnut, if you want to be a Card Forger, you have to wake your inner focus,” said Jiang Mosheng tactfully. “Inner focus? How do I do that?” Yu Jinli asked. “Inner focus appears at the age of five. If one doesn’t have it after five, one won’t forever.” Jiang Mosheng explained as he watched Yu Jinli carefully. If possible, he didn’t want to see frustration on the little one’s face at all. “Five? Does that mean I don’t have inner focus?” Yu Jinli wasn’t a fool. What Jiang Mosheng said meant his host didn’t have inner focus. That meant he wouldn’t become a Card Forger. A bit down, Yu Jinli looked at the energy card he had in hand. He enjoyed Seal Script. However, in this world, he didn’t have vermilion or script paper so he couldn’t make Seal Script. Now that he had come across something similar, he wasn’t the material for it. Why didn’t his host have inner focus? That left him with no solution at all. However, still curious about the energy card, Yu Jinli extended his spirit consciousness to it, wanting to see what was inside. Even if he couldn’t be a Card Forger, he wanted to know more about it. As his spirit consciousness touched the energy card, he was shocked for he found a large space inside it where the super beast in the picture was waiting quietly. Carefully, Yu Jinli touched the super beast with his spirit consciousness. Out of his expectation, the super beast appeared in front of him and Jiang Mosheng at once and smashed quite a lot of decorations in the room. Yu Jinli: “...” Jiang Mosheng: “...” Super beast that was summoned all of a sudden: “...” The two both looked at the super beast ahead of them, dumbstruck. “...Did you do something just now?” Surprised, Jiang Mosheng turned to Yu Jinli who was at a loss. An energy card could only be activated by a Card Forger with inner focus or a mutant with super power. Yet, according to Jiang Mosheng’s knowledge, Yu Jinli had neither. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had such a harsh time in Yu Family. Whether a person was a mutant could be found out as soon as he was born while inner focus could only be detected at five. Yu Jinli’s sad life in Yu Family began after he was five when he was found without inner focus. Then... why did that happen? “I... I just want to search the card with my spirit consciousness. I don’t know what happened.” Looking at the room which was in a mess because of that super beast, Yu Jinli was so worried that he was about to cry. He didn’t mean it. Nor did he expect the super beast to get out of the card when he touched it with his spirit consciousness. If he had known that, he wouldn’t have touched it at all. What now? He had messed up the golden coattail’s room with many things broken to pieces. What if the golden coattail didn’t like him anymore? Seeing Yu Jinli’s expression, Jiang Mosheng hurriedly took him in his arms. “Don’t worry, little chestnut. I’m simply happy for you. You are brilliant to have activated an energy card.” Jiang Mosheng comforted him gently. How could he forget that his little chestnut wasn’t normal at all? He shouldn’t have taken him as a normal person. Thank god that little chestnut had activated the energy card by accident. Otherwise he would be sorry for the rest of his life to stifle little chestnut’s talents by mistake.
